Michael and Linda Weissman opened their first child care center in 1979 in Florida. Their son, Richard, soon joined the company. Between '79 and '89 they operated eight centers in Florida, including one at the Kennedy Space Center.
Under the Tutor Time brand, the Weissmans grew their company to nearly 200 operating units in 28 states and several countries. The company subsequently became the fourth largest childcare operation in the United States and the largest franchisor of childcare centers in the world. Under the Weissmans management, national publications named Tutor Time as the top childcare franchise.
In 1997, the senior Weissman retired from the company. His son retired shortly thereafter in 1999. In 2001, the Weissmans re-entered the childcare business under the brand name, The Learning Experience®. This new company is currently developing close to 80 locations within the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina and Virginia markets. To the best of our knowledge, TLE is currently the fastest growing childcare center operator in the Northeastern United States.

State agencies regulate and oversee the quality and compliance of each childcare center. At The Learning Experience® (TLE), our staff is additionally obligated to follow systems that have been meticulously designed to not only meet state regulatory standards, but where possible, exceed them. A plethora of criteria is monitored and scored.
This monitoring is essential in order to maintain the highest standards for security, safety and health as well as curriculum education and staff performance. In addition, Center Directors and Center Business Managers, continually trained at TLE’s Corporate Headquarters, are responsible for conducting evaluations twice monthly.
Routine procedures must be executed by Teachers, Directors and Area Managers to insure all quality standards are met. This includes a daily center check list and elaborate monthly and quarterly evaluations. There are management and staff evaluations, daily communications between the center, the area director, parents and the corporate headquarters. These evaluations must be faxed to corporate headquarters for further critique.
To further warranty the soundness and inclusiveness of our quality assurance, TLE Corporate Headquarters mails Parent Surveys to each enrolled family on a quarterly basis. These surveys are systematically studied to be sure of the effectiveness of our centers and in addition offer parent feedback.
